The Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan is an Arab kingdom in Western Asia. Jordan has borders with Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Syria, Israel, and Palestine. It is strategically located at the crossroads of Asia, Africa, and Europe.

Jordan is a greatly hospitable country with a population of 9.5 million residents. Since 1948, Jordan has been a new life hope for the refugees around the country. Jordan is not an oil-rich country like other Arab states, however, it has large investments in other sectors such as mining, manufacturing, construction, and tourism.

Jordan tourism has faced several problems since 1967. After the independence in 1948, Jordan’s tourism started to grow. However, when Jordan lost the West Bank in 1967, tourism sector collapsed in the country until it reemerged in the 1980s. In 1990 during the Gulf War, tourism sector devolved with the other sectors of Jordan economy. After the Gulf War, tourism of Jordan gained it strength back and started to develop rapidly.

Tourism is one of the most important sectors in Jordan. Jordan’s major tourist attractions are Petra (UNESCO World Heritage), Jordan River, Mount Nebo, Madaba, medieval mosques and churches and natural locations like Wadi Rum. On the other hand, health tourism, education tourism, pop-culture tourism and shopping tourism are the important tourism fields in Jordan.

According to World Bank, Jordan is the top medical service provider in the region and among the top five in the world.

You can find latest clothing and accessories in designer boutiques.  In the Gold Souq located in the downtown area of Amman, you can find a very large variety of gold and silver work.
